Denbighshire
is a small county but with its fair share of quality Golf Courses. A Golf
holiday in Denbighshire and north wales could start in the north of
the county on the Irish Sea coastline. There are links courses at Prestatyn
and Rhyl, and on continuing up the Vale of Clwyd we come to Rhuddlan Golf
Club in the shadow of Rhuddlan
Castle, an impressive ancient monument.
Higher up the beautiful Vale of Clwyd we come to St Asaph Golf Club. From
there we come to the historic market towns of Denbigh and Ruthin both with
golf couses in the Vale
of Clwyd. We then have to travel to Llangollen and the valley
of the River Dee for the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club.

AD, forming a barrier against the Welsh from the severn estuary in the south

a big Castle. Rhuddlan
Castle was one of the 'iron ring' of fortresses built across north
Wales by the English king, Edward I, in the late 13th century. The massive
twin-towered Gatehouse immediately catches the eye, and a protected river
dock forms one side of the defences of this concentrically planned castle.
But the Castle was to be supplied with provisions by ship and yet it is
3 miles from the open sea. No problem in the C13th ................1800
ditchers were drafted in and the river was straightened and deepened, more
or less turned into a canal for the 3 miles to the sea.
