This map shows Llyn Geirionydd is a popular lake with boating enthusiasts, water skiers, windsurfers, walkers and families who enjoy a picnic in a beautiful location. It is the only lake in Snowdonia that permits power boats and water skiing. This ensures it's popularity with the power boat owners and the water skiers despite the difficulty of access on the steep narrow roads. However it does not make the power boat owners and water skiers popular with those among the locals who expect a lake in a National Park to be protected from noisy and dangerous power boats and water skiers. Visitor facilities are pretty sparse but include toilets and a Car Park and the tree lined lake can be quite busy in the summer months. There are a number of pleasant walks nearby including the walk to Llyn Crafnant another lake just over the hill. And the church in the nearby village of Llanrhychwyn is of interest as it is regarded by many to be the oldest church in Wales with connections to Llywelyn Fawr, or Llywelyn the Great, Prince of Wales |
