Llanrhaeadr
also known as Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch is a lovely little village
located between the towns of Ruthin and Denbigh in Denbighshire North
Wales.
At one time the road cut through the village but today a slight detour
in the main road (too small to call it a bypass) carries all the traffic
away from the village. So much so that if you blinked you would miss Llanrhaeadr
altogether.
Which would be a great shame as it is a delightful little place with an
old church, St Dyfnog's, a holy well, a row of Almshouses, a working pottery
and a Pub and restaurant.
St Dyfnog's Church is worth a visit itself having a beautiful mediaeval
stained glass "Jesse" window, and historic tombstones.
St Dyfnog's Holy Well was reputed to have healing properties and is
to be found a short walk through the woodlands behind the church.
The pottery "Anvil Pottery" looks the same as when I first visited
some 10 years ago. Doors ajar, pots on display but no one about.
The potters must be there somewhere else who makes all the beautiful
pots on display? The ellyllon ? (Fairies, elfs, goblins). Come to think
of it when I once did catch site of one of the potters he did look a
bit ............
