Maen y Bardd is a beautiful structure in a beautiful location high above the Conwy Valley.

On the west the sidestones and the capstones project to form a portal area., though this "entrance" does not have the extra height associated with portal dolmens (the class of tomb to which this monument almost certainly belongs).

Maen y Bardd burial chamber is situated in a beautiful location on the hills above the River Conwy.

From Conwy, North Wales, travel south down the Conwy valley about 4 miles (west side of the river) to Rowen. Park car in Rowen and climb steep hill (very, very, very steep) past the old YHA. Continue to the old roman road. Maen y Bardd is on the right hand side of the track soon after exiting the wooded path (please shut the gate). Their are some other standing stones nearby supposedly belonging to the 2nd millenium B.C. One only is shown here, it is situated approx. 500m. west of Maen Y Bardd above the track. (I missed the one below the track). There are more standing stones further along the roman road at Bwlch y Ddeufaen. Well worth a visit.
