Events at the International Eisteddfod arena vary throughout the year, and two local National Trust properties - Chirk Castle and Erddig Hall - provide more cultural entertainment. In addition Llangollen has a vast range of shops including traditional craft shops and ice cream parlours, and walkers can enjoy the scenery of the Vale of Llangollen. For family entertainment, the town also boasts the Llangollen Railway, the Model Railway World, the Doctor Who museum and Plas Newydd. The area has so much history attached to it, with abbey ruins and old coaching inns, there is something for everyone. Snowdon is less than an hour's drive from here and Chester, with its walled city and racecourse, and Shrewsbury are approximately 30 minutes away.......
