Set within 12 acres of woodland and natural habitat, this cottage enjoys a secluded and peaceful location. Surrounded by wildlife, Collfryn Cottage makes for a perfect holiday retreat, complete with duck pond and a small river at the bottom of the fields. Originally built in the 1400s, this characterful house has an old stone spiral staircase adding to its charm, whilst its modern farmhouse kitchen sports a warming Aga. There are also two reception rooms - one with a woodburning stove where guests can curl up in the winter months and admire the beautiful views of the surrounding land from the warmth of indoors. Caenarfon, with its shops, pubs and restaurants is only 6 miles away. It is well known for its well-preserved historic castle, where the Prince Charles was invested following a tradition set by Edward I. Within the castle are the investiture robes as well as a history of the surrounding area, and the Museum of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. The beaches of Abersoch and Pwllheli are within easy reach where watersports are available, and for something a little different, the Italianate village of Portmeirion offers visitors a touch of the exotic. Close to Porthmadog, Portmeirion comprises a collection of buildings from around the world - including Ionic columns, a pantheon and campanile set around a Mediterranean piazza. No trip to Porthmadog would be complete without a visit to the Ffestiniog Railway, which ranks as the finest narrow-gauge railway, and which winds its way upwards to the slate mines at Blaenau Ffestiniog, passing through some fabulous scenery en route. The mountains of Snowdonia are on the doorstep, ideal for mountaineering, and there is walking, cycling, fishing and bird-watching as leisure pursuits. Beddgelert is also nearby with its art galleries, and visitors can also take a tour of the Copper Mines or try out the Nature Trail. Llanberis is also an easy drive from the property.......
