According to the minutes of the Building Committee of the New Church at Gorseinon held on Thursday 13th April, 1911, the tender for £7,500 was accepted and the contract signed. Work could now commence on the site given by the owners of the Cameron Estate. St Catherine's Church was consecrated and dedicated by the Lord Bishop of St David's. The Church consists of Nave, North and South Aisles, Choir Chancel, Holy Trinity Chapel, Choir Vestry, Organ Chamber, Clergy Vestry, Baptistry and Bell Tower. When the church was opened it had a seating capacity of 610, but the plan was so arranged that a much larger number could be accommodated. The style adopted in building the church is late Gothic, treated in a free manner. The whole of the seating is of American Oak, whilst the oak pulpit is on a base of Caen Stone, the pulpit being a gift from a Miss Davies Kilby House.....
